First and foremost, anyone who lives in any of the cities that are remaining on this tour NEED to go when it's in your town. Charles' voice sounds amazing live, and his studio output barley even gives an indicator as to how great he actually sounds. His performance was so powerful, I felt tears welling up in my eyes during parts of the show. To see someone who is so grateful and happy to finally be in a position where he's filling up venues and people are moved by his music after a lifetime full of struggle and defeat.
For a 62 year old man, he sure had a lot of energy up there. People who don't know his story should at least check out this trailer for the documentary about him that's about to come out.
Charles Bradley: Soul Of America Trailer
My only minor gripes about this stellar show would be that I think the drummer was slightly inexperienced, and that the cover of Neil Young's "Heart Of Gold" didn't really sound right because it seemed like Charles was losing his voice a little bit at that point in the show. I also feel like he opened his set with his 4 most powerful songs, which made the pacing of the show seem a little weird, but these are seriously just stupid nitpicky things about a truly awesome, memorable show that needs to be seen by everybody who claims to be a music lover.
