2011's Disappointments part 1

Blueprint - "Adventures In Counterculture"
This album is just plain awful. I was never the biggest Blueprint fan, especially after seeing a few sub-par live performances over the years, but I still enjoyed most of his studio output on some level. There is just nothing good I can say about this album. Every aspect of it is mediocre to pitiful.

Tech N9ne - "All 6's & 7's"
As you all probably know, i've been a pretty huge Tech N9ne fan for years, so I was excited for him to finally be getting the shine he deserved for so long. I was saddened by the fact that he made the mistake of giving us a watered down version of himself with this new found popularity. I was so disappointed in this album I never even checked out the Collabos album he also put out last year yet. Hopefully that has some good cuts on it.

Duran Duran - "All You Need Is Now"
I wasn't really expecting this to be good, but it's really really not good.

Daedelus - "Bespoke"

I'm a big Daedelus fan, but this newest LP didn't really do it for me. The songs either come off as uninspired or just weird for the sake of being weird without being interesting. He puts out so much material, i'm sure he'll have another release out before too long.

DJ Quik - "The Book Of David"

This album isn't weak at all, but I really expected more after all the press I read about this album before it came out, and how he was supposedly making some "big comeback". I get the feeling the people who wrote those articles had stopped listening to him albums ago and were just surprised his new output wasn't weak and didn't realize he's been one of the best producers in the game since his first album. There just wasn't as many straight up great songs on here as are on most of his other albums to me. Most of this one kinda seems like filler material, but Quik's filler is better than a lot of people's A-game.

Cerebral Ballzy - "Cerebral Ballzy"
The reason this is on here is because i'm disappointed that Adult Swim would affiliate themselves with such a shitty poser punk band. To top it all off, the video off this that got aired multiple times on Adult Swim is a huge Black Moth Super Rainbow bite. Get your own damn ideas for videos, posers!

Apparat - "The Devil's Walk"
After the previous stuff I had heard by him, I was expecting some epic LP that would change my life. This is not that album, nor is it even close. There's some cool stuff on here don't get me wrong, but every time I put this on I want there to be more to it than there is.

Kool Keith - "The Doctor Is In"
This is probably the most crackhead sounding musical garbage his name has ever been stamped on. A bold statement, any longtime Kool Keith fan can attest.

The Black Keys - "El Camino"
After how good of an album "Brothers" was, I was eager to hear this when I heard about it. What a stale sound they got going for this one. I can't believe Danger Mouse produced this, it doesn't have his sound at all, to me. The female backup singers do not sound good to me,and just gives the album a general corny feel. At least they succeeded in giving every new album it's own unique sound within their style, I just didn't enjoy it this time around.

Neon Indian - "Era Extrana"
After how much I enjoyed their debut album, this album is pretty sophomore slumpy. It's just too "normal" sounding after how unique the first one was. At least they were still good in concert touring for this.
